Wilkinsburg - Housing Initiatives

Wilkinsburg is a Borough filled with diverse neighborhoods. While it encompass only 2.03 square miles, it provides a variety of housing options, for families in the low to moderate income range, as well as for those with higher incomes. The Wilkinsburg area has a variety of assets including accessibility to health and medical facilities, good public transportation, a diverse population, and easy access to downtown Pittsburgh, and suburban shopping centers.

Like older inner city neighborhoods across the country, the inner core of Wilkinsburg housing stock is in need of some revitalization. Local initiatives have been developed in partnership with county and state agencies to rehabilitate structures and provide home ownership opportunities.
